Hi! As usual, it's really, really late - we are just settling down from a long, long night at Open House. I have been at John Kennedy Elementary in Batavia since 1996 as the LMS. In my previous life, I was a retail buyer for Hens and Kelly in Buffalo (anyone remember that?) and before that a buyer for a department store in Brooklyn and Long Island.
We moved up here in 1979 from downstate, and have been here ever since. I hate the winter, the snow, driving, and traveling in bad weather. I love my family, my job, and technology. I do some of the tech training in our district, and will be presenting Moodle at the National School Boards Association conference in Nashville next week. Things have been VERY busy lately. I have been teaching some Web 2.0 stuff to the staff at Batavia for the last four years - particularly blogging and podcasting. Lots of people are interested; most of them have a really hard time finding the time to fit it into curriculum. I can certainly relate!
I am beginning a Class Blogmeister presence actively with the fifth grade at my school. I have been trying to involve teachers in this process for the past few years, but it just seemed simpler this year to get the kids up and running - and they are very excited about the idea of having their own page. We will be introducing this together (the classroom teacher and I) and I am hoping that we can move some of the traditional paper writing assignments onto the blogmeister site.
